Location: Tokyo, Japan. Elizabeth Katherine Gamarra, TEDx speaker, Fulbrighter, founder of “GOL,” graduated from the University of Utah’s Master of Social Work, age 19 – the youngest in her cohort specializing in Global Women’s Health. Then, pursued a second Masters degree in Peace and Conflict Studies at International Christian University in Tokyo. She has worked as a therapist at the University Neuropsychiatric Hospital and the Urban Indian Center with the veteran, indigenous and refugee communities in Utah along with NGOs in both Latin America and Greece.

Elizabeth sits on the Board of Trustees for Pax Natura & formally, the Tanner Center for Human Rights, organizations that work towards the preservation of peace and nature. As a Rotary Peace Fellow, she also worked on efforts around bridging peace, environment, and diplomacy in Japan through the Global Peacebuilding Association of Japan. Elizabeth is currently working as the Tokyo Liaison Officer at the Academic Council of the UN Systems in the Tokyo Office and as the recipient of the Alkin Aloware Award, has been more involved with Mediators Beyond Borders International.
