For the last six years\, Pascal has been conducting mediation and dialogue facilitation programs for mining conflicts in Morocco and Tunisia.\nHe has been a consultant for NGOs\, multinationals\, the public sector and international organizations (UNIDO\, DCAF\, UNICEF). Since 2005 he has focused his work on the MENA region and specialized in mediation and dialogue facilitation. Since 2009\, he is a member of the Municipal Council (Legislative) of the city of Morges.\nPascal is a civil and penal mediator sworn by the Cantonal Courts as well as accredited with the Swiss Federation of Mediators (FSM) and the Swiss Chamber of Commercial Mediation (SCCM).\nHe created the æ-Centre in 2007\, a Swiss-based UN-accredited NGO focussing on mediation in the Maghreb. Pascal holds an Engineering and Peace Studies degree\, is married and has four daughters.\n \n

She has received her bachelor’s degree in literature from Kabul and Shanxi University of China. She had worked as a journalist in the Parliament of Afghanistan and currently\, she is working in the consulate department of the Chinese embassy in Kabul. She has also served as a teacher in China and Afghanistan and has participated in different national and international conferences regarding youth empowerment\, gender equality\, peace\, and development. Hella is an active member of her community raising awareness regarding education\, women’s roles in peace and politics. Heela is the Global Peace Ambassador for Afghanistan for Global Peace Chain and is the diplomat learner of Repha Institute of Peace and Diplomacy in Islamabad\, Pakistan. In addition to her research and writing\, she is also selected as a youth ambassador from the international youth society. She owns a business through which she supports humanitarian advocacy work\, especially focusing on education and raising awareness of its importance in rural areas where most of the people do not have access to education. \n

She co/leads MBBI’s recent partnership with Rotary International\, a global network of 1.2 million members\, with NAFCM\, a North American network of over 300 mediation centers and the recently formed TRUST Network the first Early Warning and Response platform in the USA. \nShe is a conflict transformation practitioner who has mediated\, facilitated and trained in Europe\, Asia\, Africa and the USA.  Her public and private sector work includes conflict analysis for public/private partnerships\, consultation & assessment for industrial development zones\, design and implementation of trainings for multinational corporations; inter faith dialogues as well as facilitation of multi-stakeholder mediations.   \nIn her capacity as CEO of MBBI she designs conflict transformation and capacity building programs around the world\, serves as a consultant for companies\, policy makers\, governments\, universities and groups engaged in civil resistance and serves as an advisor on the role of women in peace and security. \nPrabha is involved in regional\, national and international civic activities focused on civil liberties\, violence prevention\, conflict mitigation & mediation and the recovery & rehabilitation of trauma survivors. She serves on the ASEAN Regional Forum’s (ARF) Expert and Eminent Persons (EEP) Group for the US Government. A few years living in New Zealand made a gap in her Rotary life\, however\, 2002 saw Tanya back in Canada and back in Rotary. \nDistrict wise Tanya has worked in the Youth Exchange program from 2002 for approx 10 years overlapping years in RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Camps) from 2006 for about 10 years. District Chair of RYLA for 4 of those. In addition\, for 7 years she ran the Youth Conference along side the Main District Conference. \nLooking at new ways to stretch and grow in Rotary she has now moved out of the Youth Programming and into District Membership when the idea of officially linking the youth Alumni to our District was formed. \nOn a personal side\, Tanya has an amazing sixteen year old daughter\, Georgia\, she was super proud to be on the Executive of her Interact Club in her Grade 10 year. Currently doing Grade 11 in Denmark thanks to the Wenatchee Confluence Rotary Club in Washington\, USA. A repeat of Grade 11 is in the future when back in Canada but nothing replaces a lifetime in a year like Rotary Youth Exchange. \nTo fund life\, Tanya owns a small yet fabulous house painting company on the Sunshine Coast in BC. \n

Her in-house HR roles at Diageo\, Sony Music and Hilton International were formative\, and enabled her to develop a freelance consulting practice that has served a diverse range of clients for over 20 years. Training as a civil and commercial mediator started out as a way to broaden her offering to clients and prompted a whole new focus on dispute resolution\, conflict coaching\, restorative practice and non-violent communication. This has included volunteering as a Restorative Justice Tutor at a men’s prison\, a Community Mediator in two London Boroughs\, and facilitating circle discussions about racial justice and equality in various contexts. \nSharon established Peacewell in 2018 as a not-for-profit offering mediation\, training and conflict coaching and completed a Masters in Conflict Resolution in Divided Societies at King’s College London in 2021. Her particular area of interest is in facilitating cross- community dialogue in post-conflict societies and she recently became a Trustee of Corrymeela\, the oldest peace and reconciliation centre in Northern Ireland. \n

MBBI encourages the notion that women’s effective participation in peacebuilding is critical to sustainable peace. The Women in Mediation Action Group (WIMAG) stands firm in the belief that women’s access to technology and communications is a vital tool for conflict resolution and peacebuilding. \nYOUNG DIPLOMATS OF CANADA (YDC) – The Young Diplomats of Canada is a federally incorporated non-profit\, non-partisan\, and youth-led organization comprised of a team of volunteers passionate about Canadian foreign policy\, diplomacy\, and international affairs. Explore opportunities that technology offers to expand and enable participation of women to advance the SDG’s and address human rights violations\, as seen through a conflict resolution lens. Dr. Estera Borcsa will share her research project\, “Peace Unleashed\,” which focuses on the importance of amplifying women’s voices.\n\nThe sixty-seventh session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW 67) will assess as its priority theme\, “Innovation and technological change\, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.”  CSW 67 provides a unique opportunity to identify recommendations that will allow for a more inclusive digital evolution to address protection of women and girls who have been historically marginalized. The objective of this session is to provide a platform to share and discuss protection and reporting measures that promote the voices and leadership of women and answer the call for recommendations by the office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). Attendees will have an opportunity to offer their ideas regarding how to advocate for women and girls in the context of United Nations-related initiatives. \n\nDr. Estera Borcsa is passionate about peace building on a global level\, international law\, empowering women and breaking generational curses in children impacted by complex trauma. Estera earned her doctoral degree from California Baptist University\, where her dissertation focused on global diplomacy\, and where she designed “Peace Unleashed\,” a diplomacy training program based in neuroscience. She received a master’s degree from the University of Southern California with a concentration in Psychology\, Policy and Law. Estera serves as the chair for the SDGs for MBBI’s UN Multilateral Working Group and is on the National Board of Directors for the United Nations Association.
