CAO is an independent accountability mechanism for the private sector arm of the World Bank Group. Nox manages the mediation unit\, which handles mediation processes between communities and the IFC’s private sector clients globally. Before joining the World Bank Group\, she worked as a Constitutionalism and Rule of Law Expert at the African Union Commission in Addis Ababa. She has experience in intellectual property law\, constitutional law\, employment law\, and corporate law. She also has\nextensive experience in Conflict Resolution and Mediation and has mediated employment\, commercial\, electoral\, land\, community\, and multi-party disputes for over 15 years. \nNox has lived and worked in the United Kingdom\, Zambia\, Uganda\, Kenya\, Liberia\, Ethiopia\, United States\, and South Africa. She holds a Post Graduate Fellowship on Peace and Security from the African Leadership Centre and Kings College London an LLM in Corporate Law an LLB Honors and is an ADR Group Accredited Mediator. She is also a member of the African Union’s Network of African Women in Conflict Prevention and Mediation (FemWise-Africa)\, board member at Bulungula and Center for the\nStudy of Violence and Reconciliation. She also volunteers as a mediator at the District Court in Maryland.

She was inspired to write it when her youngest child transitioned from female to male\, and it became clear that there was a significant gap in the public’s understanding of the topic. She wrote the book she wished she’d had 10 years ago when her son began his transition. \nSuzanne is an experienced Mediator\, Conflict Coach\, Facilitator\, and former journalist. She now dedicates her time to helping address issues of conflict\, harassment\, and stigma in the workplace\, and in supporting families through difficult conversations around gender.

Please use the Time Zone Converter to determine when this engaging conversation will be in your time zone. \nRegister here! \nSpeaker Bio\nChris Kane\nChris Kane is a licensed engineer and lawyer\, with over 25 years of training and experience as a neutral in alternative dispute resolution. He has more than 40 years of experience in construction\, infrastructure\, and environmental projects\, including all aspects of the project life cycle such as development\, design\, construction\, finance\, and operations. His extensive experience dealing with all methods of dispute resolution includes mediation\, arbitration\, dispute review boards\, advisory opinions\, structured negotiations\, joint fact-finding\, mini-trials\, and consensus-building. He is an Adjunct Professor of Mediation at William & Mary Law School and a frequent author and lecturer. \nSince becoming a neutral in 1994 he has mediated and arbitrated over a hundred cases. Chris’ dispute resolution work includes numerous multi-million dollar\, highly technical matters including claims regarding design and delay issues on rail stations\, transit guideways\, and wastewater projects; contract performance and subsurface claims on energy projects; performance payments on a wastewater plant operating contract; mediation of a food processing plant design-build dispute; mediation of defective pipe welding claim on the gas pipeline; and mediation of a stormwater flooding dispute. \nSince receiving his law degree\, he has practiced as inside counsel\, a partner in law firms\, and has worked as an executive for top industry leaders including AECOM and Washington Group. Prior to practicing law\, he began his career serving 5 years as an officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers working on engineering developments\, construction of roads and airfields\, water resources\, and flood control projects. Chris also worked as a Facility Engineer with IBM Corporation and George Washington University. He currently has his own company P3 Collaborative LLC\, a multidisciplined infrastructure advisory company.

DESCRIPTION:You are invited to attend a free online Mediators Beyond Borders International New York (MBBI-NY) event\, co-sponsored by the CUNY Dispute Resolution Program at John Jay College: “Warriors for Peace: Can Women Revive the Israeli-Palestinian Peace Process?”\, to be held Tuesday\, December 21\, 2021 at 12pm – 1:30 pm (US ET); 7pm – 8:30pm Israeli Time.\nLink to register:\nIn this interactive session\, Hyam Tannous\, co-coordinator of the 4-Million Mothers Project and former Women Wage Peace (WWP) Steering Committee member\, and Yael Treidel\, member of WWP Board of Directors and former WWP Steering Committee member\, will tell the story of the Women Wage Peace movement and explore its tactics\, impact and plans for the future.\n\nIn 2014\, in the wake of one of the most devastating wars between Israel and Gaza\, a group of Israeli women came together to take a more active role in seeking a peace agreement with their neighbors. They founded Women Wage Peace (https://womenwagepeace.org.il/en/)\, a non-partisan\, grassroots movement of women (and men) from all walks of life and diverse backgrounds\, beliefs\, and political affiliations. WWP is the largest grassroots movement in Israel that is united in the demand for a mutually binding non-violent agreement between Israelis and Palestinian\, involving women in the process (in the spirit of UN Resolution 1325).\nNote: Registrants will receive a free link to the 2018 documentary Les Guerrières de la Paix  (“Warriors for Peace“)\, directed by Hanna Assouline and Jessica Bertaux (55 min.)\, portraying the story of WWP and some of its members. Please use the Time Zone Converter to determine when this engaging conversation will be in your time zone. \nRegister here!\nSpeaker Bio\nKathy Kelly \n \nKathy Kelly\, a peace activist and author\, made over two dozen trips to Afghanistan from 2010 – 2019\, living with Afghan Peace Volunteers in a working class neighborhood in Kabul.  \nShe and her companions in various peace team delegations believe that where you stand determines what you see.  \nKelly lived with families in Baghdad throughout the 2003 Shock and Awe invasion and during the first weeks of the U.S. occupation. From 1996 to 2003\, along with numerous Voices in the Wilderness activists\, Kathy defied the U.S. sanctions against Iraq by delivering medicines and medical relief supplies to hospitals and families in Iraq. She first visited Iraq as part of the Gulf Peace Team which camped near the Iraq-Saudi border during the 1991 Desert Storm bombing and invasion of Iraq.  \nKathy’s efforts have sometimes led her into U.S. prisons as a “convict.” She believes each of three prison terms in U.S. federal prisons were among the most educational experiences of her life\, helping her understand the profound racism and cruelty inherent in the “prison-industrial complex.”  \n Kathy is now campaigning for an international treaty to ban weaponized drones. Mossarat is internationally known expert on P/CVE\, de-radicalization\, women peace and security and has spoken thrice in the UN General Assembly and once in Security Council on the subject. She partners with many international organizations and is the member of International Review Panel of Global Community and Resilience Fund\, Women Alliance for security Leadership\, Women Waging Peace etc. She is one of the five founder members of ‘Commonwealth Women Mediators Network’. She advocates in the realm of women peace and security at the national and international level. To all her work\, Mossarat brings the knowledge and experience she acquired during her 14 years as a political science professor at the University of Peshawar. \nFrom the platform of PAIMAN she initiated a unique model of Peace Education by bringing together teachers and students of Madrassas and elite private schools using her own developed Inclusive Peace Curriculum now being replicated in Tajikistan\, Nigeria and Afghanistan. She is an experienced researcher and analyst and has published two books\, written many articles\, produced documentaries on women leadership\, conflict\, peacebuilding and preventing violent extremism. \nShe was a minister of information of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Province. Currently she is a visiting fellow at Women Peace and Security Centre\, London School of Economics. She holds a master degree in Political Science\, Peshawar as well in Gender studies International Institute of Social Sciences\, Den Hague\, M.Phil degree in International Politics\, University of Hull and a Mc/MPA in Public policy and Governance from J.F. Kennedy School of Governance\, Harvard. She received Kodikara award 1996 from Regional Centre for Strategic Studies Sri Lanka\,  Women in Security\, Conflict Management\, and Peace (WISCOMP) Scholar of Peace Fellowship (2000-2001)\, London School of Economics\, Women Peace and Security fellowship 2016-17\, Women Peace Makers Fellowship\, Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and justice University of San Diego 2019-2020.
