SUMMARY:Event: Women and Young Peacebuilders on Technology and Peacebuilding: Global Perspectives
DESCRIPTION:Mediators Beyond Borders International (MBBI) and the Young Diplomats of Canada (YDC) are honoured to present a parallel event entitled “Women and Young Peacebuilders on Technology and Peacebuilding: Global Perspectives” to be held on March 6 th 2023 at 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm across from UN Headquarters at the Church Center for the United Nations (CCUN) in New York City\, USA.  \nREGISTER HERE\nThis year’s priority theme is “Innovation and technological change\, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls”. Our event will be an excellent opportunity for CSW67 delegates and the broader diplomatic community to learn more about challenges\, successes and inspirations from women and youth around the world who use technology to build peace. \n\MEDIATORS BEYOND BORDERS INTERNATIONAL (MBBI)- The United Nations Working Group of MBBI fosters the partnerships of support between both international communities of mediation within the United Nations system\, while engaging MBBI members with supporting the UN initiatives relating to peace and justice. MBBI encourages the notion that women’s effective participation in peacebuilding is critical to sustainable peace. The Women in Mediation Action Group (WIMAG) stands firm in the belief that women’s access to technology and communications is a vital tool for conflict resolution and peacebuilding. \nYOUNG DIPLOMATS OF CANADA (YDC) – The Young Diplomats of Canada is a federally incorporated non-profit\, non-partisan\, and youth-led organization comprised of a team of volunteers passionate about Canadian foreign policy\, diplomacy\, and international affairs. YDC is focused on building Canada’s next generation of global leaders; the YDC delegation to CSW67 seeks to highlight youth priorities\, concerns\, and activities related to gender empowerment and technology in Canada on an international stage. \nPanel members will speak on the topic of technology and peacebuilding with a focus on challenges\, and opportunities of women building peace or training women peacebuilders. This may include addressing the use of internet communications\, video conferencing technologies such as Zoom\, social media platforms such as What’s App\, Twitter\, Facebook\, etc. \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Unmuting the Voices of Women: An MBBI-NY Interactive Event
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, March 7\, 2023\, 6:15pm – 8:30pm ET\nJohn Jay College of Criminal Justice\, Room 520.28\n524 West 59th Street\, New York\, NY\, 10019Please note: proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test from a reputable provider (e.g. CVS\, Duane Reade) will be required for admission to the college \nRSVP to bradroth@mediatorsbeyondborders.org \n\nJoin Mediators Beyond Borders International New York (MBBI-NY) for an in-person workshop-oriented event focused on human rights violations against women that impede progress globally. Explore opportunities that technology offers to expand and enable participation of women to advance the SDG’s and address human rights violations\, as seen through a conflict resolution lens. Dr. Estera Borcsa will share her research project\, “Peace Unleashed\,” which focuses on the importance of amplifying women’s voices.\n\nThe sixty-seventh session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW 67) will assess as its priority theme\, “Innovation and technological change\, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.”  CSW 67 provides a unique opportunity to identify recommendations that will allow for a more inclusive digital evolution to address protection of women and girls who have been historically marginalized. The objective of this session is to provide a platform to share and discuss protection and reporting measures that promote the voices and leadership of women and answer the call for recommendations by the office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR). Attendees will have an opportunity to offer their ideas regarding how to advocate for women and girls in the context of United Nations-related initiatives. \n\nDr. Estera Borcsa is passionate about peace building on a global level\, international law\, empowering women and breaking generational curses in children impacted by complex trauma. Estera earned her doctoral degree from California Baptist University\, where her dissertation focused on global diplomacy\, and where she designed “Peace Unleashed\,” a diplomacy training program based in neuroscience. She received a master’s degree from the University of Southern California with a concentration in Psychology\, Policy and Law. Estera serves as the chair for the SDGs for MBBI’s UN Multilateral Working Group and is on the National Board of Directors for the United Nations Association.
