SUMMARY:Restorative Justice Foundations for Accountability\, Repair and Transformation
DESCRIPTION:Engage in this exciting webinar\, Restorative Justice Foundations for Accountability\, Repair and Transformation. This 90-minute event will be on September 12th\, 2024\, at 1:00 pm ET  (USA. UTC -4). Please use the Time Zone Converter to determine when this engaging conversation will be in your time zone.  \nDescription \nThis session will cover foundational restorative justice principles and practices but also go beyond them to describe a community-based approach Scott calls Active Peace Circles\, which go more deeply into root causes and systems change. Cultivating an overall restorative mindset is primary\, as is the framing of harm as unmet universal human needs. We will look at the 5 Rs of restorative justice and reflect on them in personal ways\, as well as in the context of our professional lives: Relationship\, Responsibility\, Respect\, Repair\, and Reintegration. Other aspects of Active Peace Circles will also be covered to fill out the picture and describe how the work fosters transformation at personal\, interpersonal\, and collective levels. There will be experiential elements\, open discussion\, and additional resources will be offered. It’s hoped that information and discussion from the session will help inform further exploration of best practices for transformative and community-level mediation\, along with other topics. \nRegister here!\nG. Scott Brown is a peacemaker\, relationship coach\, mediator\, and workshop leader. His integrated approach to healing and resilience brings together psychology\, spirituality\, and transformational approaches to activism and conflict resolution. \nScott worked on the front lines of activism for over 15 years with organizations including Greenpeace. More recently he worked as a restorative justice program coordinator for the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office after training with two different restorative justice organizations in Colorado.  Scott holds a master’s degree from Naropa University in transpersonal psychology and ecopsychology and is the author of Active Peace: A Mindful Path to a Nonviolent World.
