On January 25
th, MBB held a cutting edge mediation training in New York City, in partnership with the New York Peace Institute. Doug Noll, MBB Board member and advanced practitioner, provided his workshop in “Micro-interventions” to participants from around the world, including Kenya and the UK. The participants reflected a broad range of experience, decades of professional, full-time work in conflict resolution, as well as those who use their mediation skills in other professions.

Doug’s training offered practical methods to diffuse situations in which tensions and emotions prevent participants from hearing each other and reaching resolution. These methods or approaches are practical pathways to developing empathy and becoming a more effective mediator. This information was given in the context of recent theories from both neuroscience and psychology, resulting in a well-rounded and engaging workshop for all experience levels.

“I have attended (and taught) many hundreds of hours of mediation training, including advanced trainings. This presentation was the single most powerful, actionable, and supported teaching I have attended.”
