MBBI Delighted to Announce Partnership with Project Kesher to Deliver Women in Mediation IPTI in Minsk, Belarus

ROSSLYN, VA, March 30, 2017 – Mediators Beyond Borders International (MBBI) is pleased to announce that, for the first time, it is partnering with Project Kesher (PK) to deliver its signature Women in Mediation International Peace Training Institute (IPTI) in Minsk, Belarus.

PK has secured generous funding from the American Arbitration Association- International Center for Dispute Resolution (AAA-ICDR) which will cover the training of participants in support of women in peacebuilding and leadership from Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine. PK is an NGO based on the premise that groups of faith can organize, form interfaith coalitions and promote civil society together. The training comes at a critical time for the region: with the invasion of Crimea and ongoing conflict in Eastern Ukraine, countries that have a long history of cooperation are now estranged, making it difficult for their citizens to maintain ongoing relationships on personal, professional, and diplomatic levels.

Mediation and Leadership training in Belarus will equip women leaders with the skills of mediation, alternative dispute resolution and peacebuilding initiatives to use in the NGOs and their places of work. The seminars on mediation and leadership will take place from April 21-24 and will be followed by: a series of webinars; methodological and informational support; joining a global ADR network and peacebuilding initiatives; a certificate of completion of the training; and the advancement of ADR ideas and mediation in local communities and regions.

The Belarus IPTI training will be led by: Loretta Raider— principal of The Raider Consulting Group who has worked as a consultant on Conflict Resolution in twenty-five countries worldwide, and taught at the International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution Teachers College, Columbia University;  and Mary Montague—a leading activist of the peacebuilding movement in Northern Ireland, co-founder of TIDES Training a Charitable non-profit Training and Consultancy company, and founding member of the Women Waging Peace global network at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.

Following the training, IPTI participants will join a global network of women peacebuilders who have participated in the MENA and Southeast Asia IPTIs and will likely implement peacebuilding projects in their home countries.
