Sponsor a Woman Peacebuilder from the Middle East

Dear MBB Members & Friends,

In 2012, MBB launched our “Women in Mediation” project to support the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on “Women, Peace and Security”, and expand the role of women mediators in conflict-affected parts of the world. On 25-26 September 2013, right before MBB’s 6th Annual Congress in Istanbul CLICK HERE, MBB will offer a 2-day conflict resolution and mediation training institute for up to 25 women leaders from the Middle East & North Africa (MENA).

The goal of MBB’s International Training Institute (MBBITI) is to bring together women leaders, who are already working to resolve conflicts in their communities and countries. MBB received 58 applications from women across the MENA region and beyond, and selected 25 leaders from 18 countries including Afghanistan, Armenia, Iraq, Israel, Lebanon, Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Turkey and Yemen.

It will cost MBB about $1,500 each to fly and host these leaders in Istanbul. For example, $1,500 would enable Rashad, an applicant from Iraq, who is the founder of an Iraqi women’s organization, to attend the MBBITI. An additional $1,500 would make it possible for Maha, an applicant from Yemen, who is an experienced trainer, to learn mediation and peacemaking skills in order to train other women in Yemen in these skills.

To date, we have raised $20,000 of our $37,500 budget. A donation of $150 to MBB would help a lot. A donation of $1,500 would be huge and enable us to bring one more women leader to Istanbul in September. Think about it and then donate. CLICK HERE. These women need your support, and so does MBB.

In peace and with gratitude,
