MBBI’s mission is supported by the work of Committees of the Board of Directors. The Committees include the Resource Development Committee (RDC) and its two teams: Membership Engagement Team (MET) and Impact Investment Team (IIT). If you are interested in participating in a Committee and are an MBBI member, please contact the MBBI Communications and Operations Manager.
The Resource Development Committee (RDC): Provides the resources, both human and financial, to sustain and build the capacity of MBBI to successfully and fully carry out its mission. The RDC consists of two teams: Membership Engagement Team (MET) and Impact Investment Team (IIT).
Chair & Board Liaison: Courtney Bourns
Co-Chair, Membership Engagement Team: Divya Sugand
Membership Engagement Team (MET): Focuses on boosting MBBI’s membership and establishing a system, a mechanism, or a platform through which MBBI could better serve its members. The MET’s role is guided by the following principles: Invite, Orient, Engage.
Impact Investment Team (IIT): Focuses on raising awareness about the impact MBBI has on communities around the world, reducing conflict and saving lives. It engages members and other prospects (who may not be members) who have both the capacity and motivation to support MBBI, inviting them to consider investing in its mission and work.
The Internship Task Force: Emerging from the enthusiastic and energetic environment of the organization’s retreat in Pittsburgh in October 2018, the Internship Taskforce focuses on creating more meaningful internship and volunteership experiences and expanding MBBI’s reach and impact. It does this by examining the hiring and managing process to ensure that interns contribute to MBBI’s mission and vision and gain skills and knowledge that enhance their peacebuilding careers.
Task Force Responsibilities:
- Build partnerships with universities
- Recruit individuals who share MBBI’s vision and are passionate about peacebuilding
- Create and maintain a mentorship/mentorship-like system
- Ensure a sustainable performance evaluation system
- Educate interns and volunteers about MBBI’s Ombuds
- Educate MBBI leaders on supervision and management best practices
