With a B.A. in Public Policy from Duke University, she went on to study International Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution at Oklahoma University’s College of Law, and continued her education in Innovation and Entrepreneurship through Stanford’s executive development program, and Social Entrepreneurship through the University of Oxford. She worked as a television producer for a CNN affiliate, a staff mediator for the Oklahoma Supreme Court, and a Public Diplomacy fellow for the U.S. Department of State before launching her own business focused on social entrepreneurship.

Having built a foundation of experience in handling programs that deal with conflict in the MENA region. Beau is now seeking to build his data management skills in relation to peacebuilding. He started off with familiarizing himself with methods of data analytics with coursework at the General Assembly. Beau is now reviewing the peacebuilding qualitative data to assess how this information could be put into a visual.

Arianna graduated from the University of Connecticut in December 2018, where she double majored in Global Studies and English, and double minored in Human Rights and Middle Eastern Studies. Previously, Arianna served as a Human Rights Fellow at the Croatian Mediation Association in Zagreb, Croatia, where she assisted judges, lawyers, and local actors to normalize nationwide awareness and access to mediation services in Croatia. While studying in Rabat, Morocco, Arianna expanded upon her experience in Croatia to conduct a multi-regional field study entitled Morocco: The Intersection of Intercultural Mediation and Migration. She analyzed the methodologies and capacities of local actors to promote community building and intercultural mediation between Moroccan nationals and Sub-Saharan refugees.
Arianna is also currently in the final stages of launching her online peacebuilding campaign which uses data visualization and info-graphics to dispel misconceptions on the demographics and policies of the U.S. Refugee Resettlement Program that contribute to xenophobia within American host communities. Arianna’s commitment to peacebuilding comes from her love of intercultural communication, passion for working with local actors, and aspiration to change the way people perceive and engage in conflict.

After her high school graduation, she hopes to study political science and go to law school. Her dream is to become a civil rights lawyer and help make sure that justice is distributed equally across the board, as well as helping those who may not be as economically fortunate. She is a part of her school’s Speech and Debate team where she has made it to the octa-finals round of the renowned Harvard University Invitational tournament. Also at school, she is a part of her marching band in which she plays the tenor drums in the drumline. Apart from her academic and extra-curricular activities, Nicole enjoys playing and listening to music, cooking, learning about the world, traveling, and spending time those she loves.

She shadowed a family mediator through Cyrenians, an organization focusing on reducing youth homelessness caused by relationship breakdown in Edinburgh. Through individual and group sessions, she explored the root causes of conflict and, more importantly, potential ways to progress forward while building resilience for future difficult situations. She sees conflict as a catalyst for change and growth; this opportunity allowed further exploration of parties’ perception of conflict. She currently plays a variety of roles in family, criminal, and civil proceedings as a Court and Client Representative for the Ministry of the Attorney General. Access to justice and current affairs are important to her and this role compels her to research and stay up to date in law, politics and public policy.

Matteo joined MBBI with a strong interest in expanding his knowledge of peacebuilding and ways through which reaching a peaceful resolution of conflicts. He strongly believes in the people-centered mission of MBBI and in the power of nonviolence. Indeed, he wants to contribute to a shift in the way in which international security issues are conceived, by putting peace-education, reconciliation and the long-term health affected communities at the core of peacemaking efforts. The “people” must always be kept at the center of gravity if we want to build sustainable peace. In his free time, Matteo is a travel-lover and has a curious mind.
