Focusing on the Direct Trauma Needs of Ukrainians

Over the last ten years, MBBI has developed a Trauma-Informed Peacebuilding (TIP) program designed to mitigate the impact of exposure to violence by providing skills and tools for peacebuilders, development professionals, and humanitarian aid workers. The invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 brought the need for integrating these two efforts specifically for the people in and from Ukraine. Since 2014, the war in Ukraine has intensified collective and historical trauma. The full-scale invasion of February 2022 has plunged the whole country into experiencing war online and in person.

Based on consultations with members and partners, MBBI has responded with a range of immediate, mid and long-term interventions. Trauma-Informed Peacebuilding is one of the immediate responses which we know has a long-term impact. MBBI is honored to partner with the National Association of Mediators of Ukraine (NAMU) in serving the mediation/facilitation community and ultimately the population impacted by the war. MBBI, alongside NAMU, organized an intensive TIP training for a cohort of Ukrainian mediators and facilitators, sponsored by AAA-ICDR and USAID.
