Speaker Bio

Heela Hakimi

Heela Hakimi is currently a graduate student studying for a MA in International Relations majoring in Peace and Diplomacy. She has received her bachelor’s degree in literature from Kabul and Shanxi University of China. She had worked as a journalist in the Parliament of Afghanistan and currently, she is working in the consulate department of the Chinese embassy in Kabul. She has also served as a teacher in China and Afghanistan and has participated in different national and international conferences regarding youth empowerment, gender equality, peace, and development. Hella is an active member of her community raising awareness regarding education, women’s roles in peace and politics. Heela is the Global Peace Ambassador for Afghanistan for Global Peace Chain and is the diplomat learner of Repha Institute of Peace and Diplomacy in Islamabad, Pakistan. In addition to her research and writing, she is also selected as a youth ambassador from the international youth society. She owns a business through which she supports humanitarian advocacy work, especially focusing on education and raising awareness of its importance in rural areas where most of the people do not have access to education.
