Peace in the Middle East? Support MBB’s Israel Project

Israel is a place where people of diverse cultural, religious, ethnic, political and socio-economic backgrounds live segregated lives in close proximity, creating a tinder box of opposing narratives and extreme political tensions. Community Mediation Centers in cities with high Arab, immigrant and low income populations are working to build community across cultural boundaries. However, their innovations and successes are happening on a small scale and are still largely unrecognized.

The MBB Israel team is launching a new multi-tiered collaboration to nurture this promising community building work. The partnership includes academics, national level leaders of community mediation such as the Mosaica Conflict Resolution Center and the Jerusalem Intercultural Center, and local community mediation centers in towns across Israel.

Together we will:

  • conduct action research documenting lessons learned by the mediation centers in Israel’s mixed cities;
  • create mutual learning partnerships between these centers and carefully selected U.S. community mediation centers; and
  • hold conferences in both Israel and the U.S. to share what is learned with community mediators, academics, the media, and policy makers.

The MBB Israel team needs your help to undertake this ambitious collaboration, which we believe will have far reaching impact by expanding effective cross-cultural community building work within Israel, between Israel and its neighbors, and in hot spots in the U.S. and across the globe. Your support will help us bridge divides at this critical time in the Middle East. Please click here to donate!
