Speaker Bio: Joel Wickwire

Joel is currently earning a Ph.D. in International Psychology with The Chicago School of Professional Psychology while living in Odessa, Ukraine. He also has extensive doctorate research experience within the field of Global Security with American Military University. His primary regional area of interest is Eastern Europe, specifically the ongoing dispute resolution process between Moldova and Transnistria. Other recent research has included a replication study on enclave bias in the Balkans and interviewing staff of organizations like USAID, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), NATO, and civil society organizations. He recently completed a Masters in Conflict and Dispute Resolution with the University of Oregon School of Law and a Masters in Legal Studies with American Public University. Over the past two years, he has twice conducted research with the OSCE in Prague through its Researcher-in-Residence program where he explored their mediation, negotiations, and facilitation practices. He has also worked as a librarian, research assistant with think tanks in the DC area and at universities, has taught English, has worked as a journalist.
