Prabha Sankaranarayan Receives The David Brandon Community Mediation Movement Catalyst Award
Congratulations to Prabha Sankaranarayan for receiving the The David Brandon Community Mediation Movement Catalyst Award – National!
On October 3, 2023, MBBI’s President and CEO Prabha Sankaranarayan won the inaugural David Brandon Community Mediation Movement Catalyst Award – National award from NAFCM.
This award honors David Brandon, the Managing Director of the JAMS Foundation. At the 2023 NAFCM Assembly, Prabha was honored for her tireless work in building peace across the US, through her leadership at both MBBI and The TRUST Network. This award recognizes individuals within an organization making positive differences in the areas of peace co-creating, justice and community mobilization in ways which support individuals, communities and systems in responding to conflict that sparks hope, curiosity, renewed wholeness, and creative potential. They fully work for the betterment of the community, embracing personal sacrifice that the work often requires.
A quote directly from Prabha in relation to this award:
“It has been my honor to work with the amazing network of community mediation centers across this country for the past twenty years in a variety of roles starting with mediation training and volunteering at a local center. I have served as a consultant for some, transformative, and restorative justice practitioners with others, and, for the past three years worked with many of the centers involved in the TRUST network’s Early Warning Early Response platform. These experiences have only served to deepen my respect and appreciation for the centers, and the enormous potential they have to become the nerve centers of local peacebuilding across this vast country, supported as they are by legislation and their connection to the Community Relations Service of the DOJ. Truly transpartisan and representing the demographics of the country, the centers have amazing leaders. And then there is DG Mawn at NAFCM- whose vision & leadership have been instrumental in the work of the “whole” growing and developing! The partnership with ACR and the amazing David Brandon will, I hope, continue to make this network a key part of the human infrastructure for this Republic’s growth and development into a community in which all people thrive.”
