Lisa Rose
With over 30 years of experience in peacebuilding and conflict resolution, Lisa has dedicated her career to supporting communities in conflict settings and providing direct mediation services for global organizations navigating intercultural challenges. Her journey began in Northern Ireland in 1993, where she engaged with paramilitary members, at-risk youth, and victims of political violence through single identity and cross-community platforms. From 2008-2020, she worked with the Council of Europe (COE) as a ROMED mediator and trainer, supporting Irish Traveller, English Gypsy, Sinti and Roma communities to resolve conflicts constructively.
As co-author of the COE ROMACT intercultural training programme, Lisa developed methodologies that bridged gaps between municipal, state and elected government officials and marginalised communities, building capacity for constructive engagement and conflict resolution. As member of Mediators Beyond Borders International’s Kenya team (2014-2020), she helped to implement projects focused on pastoralist conflict transformation.
Lisa has served as a board member and finally as Vice Chair at International Alert between 2016-2024, bringing governance expertise and strategic vision to global peacebuilding operations. She is currently engaged as an International Technical Consultant for the British Council, focusing on civil society youth skills, voice and positive pathways; conflict sensitivity and peacebuilding; research, evidence and learning; and climate action for non-formal education. Her approach combines mediation techniques, conflict analysis, and training design that centres on empowering individuals and groups to develop their own conflict resolution capacities.
