The Climate Change Policy Project Team at COP 20 in Lima Peru!

Mark and Suzi at COP 20 12-05-14MBB’s Climate Change team continues to promote a peaceful resolution of climate conflict. The team is in Lima Peru for the UNFCCC COP 20/CMP10 climate change negotiations.  Please view the link HERE and below for an interview with the Climate Change team members Mark Kirwin, Suzi Norbeck and Gregg Walker.

The team continues to meet with many Party delegates and civil society representatives to encourage the use of mediation and informal problem solving as a way to address climate change disputes at the local, national, and international levels.  Further, our team is monitoring the text negotiations being held by the various subsidiary bodies under the Convention, including the Ad Hoc Working Group for Enhanced Action (ADP).

As part of the text negotiations, our team advocates for the insertion of mediation as an alternative to solving climate change disputes in addition to arbitration, conciliation and the International Court of Justice as set forth in Article 14 of the Convention.  In addition, we continue to promote “the development and implementation of education and training programmes” for meditation and informal problem solving under Article 6 of the Convention.
