Ilan David Bass is an accredited mediator with experience in community, civil/commercial and workplace contexts in the UK and internationally. He has delivered hundreds of hours of mediation training and also works with individuals as a conflict coach. In 2020, Ilan founded Orchid Mediation 义兰调解 with the aim of building peaceful communities by centering the voices of those directly affected by conflict using collaborative mediation processes.

Ilan brings two decades of experience working in finance, government and international organisations across Europe, Asia and the Middle East to his practice as a mediator. Having lived for several years in mainland China, he communicates proficiently in Mandarin.

Ilan became involved with MBBI in 2021 by helping to organize a webinar on ‘Refugees in Europe: Challenges and opportunities for global peacebuilding’. Since then, he has played an integral part in establishing MBBI’s European collaboration region, which aims to build social cohesion in Europe by connecting community mediators across the continent.

Ilan has degrees in East Asian Studies from the University of Sheffield, and in Conflict Resolution and Mediation from Tel Aviv University. He is currently employed as a Director of the China-Britain Business Council in London, UK.
