S. Martin
Global Partnerships Manager
Scott R. “Martin” RLA is the Global Partnerships Manager for Mediators Beyond Borders International (MBBI). In this role, he leads strategy and partnership development, cultivates relationships with funders and international collaborators, and co-designs programs that integrate community mediation, trauma-informed practices, and social entrepreneurship to strengthen community resilience.
Martin’s background as a licensed landscape architect and business owner informs his multi- track, systems-based approach to conflict transformation. After working from California to Dubai in the design field, he transitioned to peacebuilding full-time upon being selected as a Rotary International Peace Fellow. Since then, he has facilitated and trained globally—co- leading trauma-informed peacebuilding in Rwanda and Ukraine, supporting youth leadership initiatives in Bolivia and across ASEAN nations, and training over 100 community mediators in Southern Africa, including teaching at the Rotary Peace Center at Makerere University in Uganda.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Rotary Peace Fellow Alumni Association (RPFAA), is a Global Ambassador and Positive Peace Activator with the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), and was recognized with a Paul Harris Fellowship for his contributions to building peace through dialogue and capacity-building.
Martin holds a Master of Arts in Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, and Peacebuilding from California State University Dominguez Hills and a Certificate in International Peace and Conflict Studies from Chulalongkorn University in Thailand. He speaks conversational Spanish and Japanese, and enjoys tending to his avocado trees on a tiny ranch in Southern California.
