Join us for another insightful event featuring expert civil society professionals who will discuss the ongoing relief and recovery efforts two years after the devastating earthquake, the ongoing dire humanitarian crisis facing Syria, and the broader implications of the most recent US government decision to withhold international funding. Dr. Khuloud Barakeh, Diana Al-Ali, and Kafa Al Bashir will share their personal experiences, and insights into the needs and expectations of local and international stakeholders. This is a critical opportunity to understand how the recent political developments are shaping humanitarian responses and what can be done to support those in need.

This event will be facilitated by Rajaa Altalli, CCSD Co-Founder, and Prabha Sankaranarayan, MBBI President and CEO and will be translated in Arabic and English.

انضموا إلينا في لقاء مع خبيرات من المجتمع المدني السوري اللواتي سيناقشن جهود الإغاثة والتعافي المستمرة بعد عامين من الزلزال المدمر، والأزمة الإنسانية المروعة المستمرة التي تواجه سوريا، ونطاق تداعيات قرار الحكومة الأمريكية الأخير بحجب التمويل الدولي. ستشارك الدكتورة خلود بركة وديانا العلي وكفا البشير تجاربهن الشخصية ورؤيتهن للاحتياجات والمتطلبات من المجتمع المحلي والدولي. إنها فرصة فريدة لفهم مدى تأثير التطورات السياسية الأخيرة على الاستجابات الإنسانية وما يمكن القيام به لدعم المحتاجين.

ستُيسر هذا اللقاء كل من رجاء التلي، المؤسسة المشاركة لمركز المجتمع المدني والديمقراطية، وبرابها شنكرنارايان، رئيسة مجلس إدارة والمديرة التنفيذية لمؤسسة وسطاء خارج الحدود الدولية. ستتوفر الترجمة باللغتين العربية والإنجليزية.

Speakers:

Diana Al-Ali, Director of Souriana Organization,

A community activist and director of the Souriana Organization. Since founding the organization, she has dedicated her efforts to advocating women empowerment whether economically, politically or socially, ensuring they play a vital and influential role in society. Founded in 2018 by a group of activist women, Souriana focuses on humanitarian efforts, peacebuilding, and early recovery, with a special focus on women’s empowerment. Key projects included economic empowerment initiatives, a campaign to assist earthquake-affected communities, and a literacy program for women and girls.

ديانا العلي، مديرة منظمة سوريانا

ناشطة مجتمعية ومديرة منظمة سوريانا. منذ تأسيس المنظمة، كرست جهودها للدفاع عن تمكين المرأة سواء اقتصاديًا أو سياسيًا أو اجتماعيًا، وضمان لعبها دورًا حيويًا ومؤثرًا في المجتمع. تأسست سوريانا في عام 2018 من قبل مجموعة من النساء الناشطات، وتركز على الجهود الإنسانية وبناء السلام والتعافي المبكر، مع التركيز بشكل خاص على تمكين المرأة. تضمنت المشاريع الرئيسية مبادرات التمكين الاقتصادي، وحملة لمساعدة المجتمعات المتضررة من الزلازل، وبرنامج محو الأمية للنساء والفتيات. 

Khuloud Barakeh: Founder, Director of Impact Zone

A Syrian researcher and academic specializing in education and women’s empowerment, she holds a PhD in Education from the University of Damascus where she later served as an Associate Professor. She has extensive experience in women’s advocacy, co-founding the “Syrian Women for Democracy” coalition and the “Syrian Women for Peace and Democracy” initiative, actively engaging in UN negotiations. Her research focuses on gender-based violence, constitutional gender perspectives, and CEDAW. She also leads Impact Zone, a training and consulting firm, and is a certified trainer in T.O.T. and teacher training.

د. خلود بركة:

باحثة وأكاديمية سورية متخصصة في التربية والتمكين النسوي، تحمل دكتوراه في التربية من جامعة دمشق، حيث عملت كأستاذة مشاركة في كلية التربية ودرّست في الجامعة الافتراضية السورية وجامعة دمشق. شاركت في تأسيس تحالف “المرأة السورية من أجل الديمقراطية” ومبادرة “المرأة السورية من أجل السلام والديمقراطية” ولعبت دورًا فاعلًا في المفاوضات مع المبعوث الأممي إلى سوريا.  لديها خبرة في البحث ونشر دراسات حول العنف ضد المرأة، جندرة الدستور، والعمل مع اللجنة المعنية بالقضاء على جميع أشكال التمييز ضد المرأة (اتفاقية سيداو).  كما تدير “إمباكت زون”، وهي شركة متخصصة في التدريب والاستشارات، وهي مدربة معتمدة في تدريب المدربين (T.O.T.) وتدريب المعلمين.

Kafa Al Bashir

Kafa Al-Bashir is a humanitarian activist and development specialist with expertise in human resources, project management, and monitoring and evaluation. She has led peacebuilding and community initiatives in conflict-affected areas, focusing on women’s empowerment, justice for missing persons, and sustainable development. As Director of the “Permanent Peace for Development” Organization, she oversees projects that improve living conditions and strengthen local communities, with a special emphasis on supporting women in education, health, and economic development.

كفا البشير ناشطة إنسانية ومتخصصة في التنمية، تمتلك خبرة في الموارد البشرية وإدارة المشاريع والرصد والتقييم. قادت مبادرات لبناء السلام وتنمية المجتمع في المناطق المتأثرة بالنزاع، مع التركيز على تمكين المرأة والعدالة للمفقودين والتنمية المستدامة. تشغل حاليًا منصب مديرة منظمة “السلام الدائم من أجل التنمية”، حيث تشرف على مشاريع تهدف إلى تحسين ظروف المعيشة وتعزيز المجتمعات المحلية، مع اهتمام خاص بدعم المرأة في مجالات التعليم والصحة والتنمية الاقتصادية.
