MBB Partners with Washington & Jefferson College

Focusing on the intersection between Conflict Transformation and Trauma, MBB is developing a Trauma Informed Peace Building (TIP) Curriculum that can be integrated into Peacebuilding, Development, Health, Livelihoods and Education programs. Like most of MBB’s work, it is the product of a multidisciplinary, multinational, multicultural team of practitioners. This research and practice based training is designed to enhance professionals’ ability to integrate trauma-informed practices into program design, implementation and training.

MBB is very grateful for the partnership with Washington & Jefferson College whose staff and students graciously hosted the team on the campus.

The team members include Mary Jo Harwood, co-leader of the MBB South Sudan team with 30 years’ experience working with trauma survivors; Ginny Morrison, a program consultant who has worked in Iraq, Liberia, Kenya, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and South Sudan; Dr. Suzanne Dobson, who has worked in Australia, UK, Rwanda and Kenya; Shellie Vincent, a social worker concentrating on issues of trauma and violence; Dr. Barbara Melamed, a psychologist whose practice emphasizes treatment of veterans and others experiencing trauma; Millicent Otieno, a conflict transformation professional whose work in Asia and Africa includes trauma sensitivity and Prabha Sankaranarayan, MBB’s CEO, whose peace and trauma projects have spanned Liberia, Kenya, Sri Lanka and India.
