Political Empowerment of Women in Sierra Leone: A Path Toward Sustainable Peace

Loretta Raider 2013Sierra Leone Project Team Leader, Loretta Raider, is speaking at the quarterly meeting of  WIL of Greater Philadelphia regarding her work with Mediators Beyond Borders (MBB).

The program will cover how she and her MBB team addressed the systemic issues facing political development and stability in post-conflict Sierra Leone, specifically through the engagement of women citizens in the political process.  These efforts contributed to building unity for peaceful elections, which were achieved for the first time since the civil war ended in 2002.  She will also share MBB’s future plans to roll out a women’s leadership program for political aspirants.
